I'm of Mexican descent and people always tell me I look white. White as in anglo I guess, cause my brother is tall and light skinned like me, but with dark hair, and people always assume he's Hispanic. My neighbors are Irish and German, and one of their children has dark hair like my bro, and he says sometimes he's mistaken for Mexican. I live in San Antonio btw.
I have brown hair and blue eyes. Most of my family has brown eyes, but I do have family with blue like me, and I just thought I was a white looking Mexican, until I lurked on the internet and found out I WAS white. It was sort of weird, cause even though I knew Mexicans could look different, I still thought we were "Mexican" if you know what I mean.
but yeah back to my original Q...I bet I have native in me, cause I have brown complected family too, but it's like this, my dad's side is mostly light complected, my mom's is half light complected half tan or brown. It's interesting how some can look different. My mom's mother can pass as native, but her dad looks 'mestizo', yet she came out 'castiza' looking(light olive skin dark hair), as did her 3 other sisters. Well one looks sort of Asian, like japanese.
I usually read how rich white Mexicans are rich and how poor the 'indios' are, but after observing Mexicans and going to Mexico, i think there's more expections than someone would expect. I'd say most mexicans genes are very mixed so some come out looking white some mixed some more native. I know/see a looot of 'white' looking poor people in mexico, at least in northern mexico, and have seen people leaning on the native side who are rich, like my cousins friend(she lives in San Pedro, Monterrey).
so yeah, after thinking about this last week I looked around the internet, but kept finding different stuff. I looked up sites like this and figured I'd ask people who know a lot about this stuff. sorry for getting off track :/ happens a lot
