We all have heard how the Lion is the king of all animals, but does his crown really have any weight? There is a member of the great apes that can give Lion King a run for his money.

Standing at heights up to 6 feet tall, with a staggering arm span of up to 8.5 feet,Adult gorillas can weight 400 pounds and more. They have incredible musculature, that allows them physical capabilities hundreds of times above that of humans. But this juggernaut's feats don't end here - Gorillas are considered to be highly intelligent(As shown, they can even post and make threads on Apricity),they can think logically, they can express emotions like smiling, forming family bonds, grieving,as well as learning pleasant human gestures:

Gorillas are also observed using various objects as tools, such as the case that Thomas Breuer and his team recorded,a gorilla used a stick to check the depth of a swamp before getting in to cross it.

With both brains and brones like that there is hardly anything in the animal kingdom that can challenge the Gorilla, big cats have been known to avoid them,as well as Rhinos,Elephants and other large land mammals,it appears nothing out there wants any of what Gorillas have to offer.

So,dear Disney, next time you make movies about animal kings, make sure to cast the right king!

Gorilla.

The largest bear is the Kodiak, but its body structure forbids it to be as agile and efficient in a fight as a Gorilla.Gorillas, like us,have opposable thumbs, which means they can grab, twist, pull, tear with their hands, and they have very powerful hands.

In my opinion the bear will be very outmatched, not just by physicality, but also intelligence.

Doesn't make you proud to be an Ape?(humans are Apes very close to Chimps and Gorillas).

Gorillas are noble and beautiful creatures :cool_002: Africa would be better off with them as the most numerous primate rather than humans :chin:

They have blood group B as well, just like me :curtain:

What is interesting with gorillas is the fact that, while they produce less testosterone than humans and are vegetarians who eat tree leaves all day long, these two characteristics don't prevent them from being much bigger, much heavier and pound-for-pound much stronger than humans... Chimpanzees are the apes who produce more testosterone than humans (the testicles of an adult chimpanzee male are enormous!) and probably as a result of that feature, they are also much more aggressive and violent than gorillas...

Hum, when religion and the ban it established over genetically modifying living organisms both disappear... Do you plan on genetically modifying gorillas to transform them into meat-eating monsters with high levels of testosterone? :p Yish, if so, I'd avoid all the parts of the world where gorillas live... :p

Are there any recorded fights between a Gorilla and Lion?
Gorillas are peaceful and rarely attack other animals

Thats for the sake of all other animals.

If Gorillas were hunter carnivores there just wouldn't be any other animals left.If our abuse of nature somewhat damages their environment and they can't find food, they may evolve into carnivores to survive, and thats going to be bad for everyone.

The moment they start eating meat their physiology will change, they will become bigger, stronger, more aggressive.

Gorillas eat meat in the zoo, but this is unnatural for them.
I wouldn't be so sure betting on the Gorilla vs Lion.
The Lion has vicious bite, faster and more flexible. The gorillas has a thumb and has to beat it to death or crush his neck.
It would be an epic fight for sure

I doubt that. They will probably die off... The same way Neanderthal man died off when he ran out of mammoths to eat...

They are already bigger and stronger than humans... BTW, how come chimpanzees, who eat meat and who produce much more testosterone than us and them, are smaller? :p

Gorillas and lions don't live in the same environment... They may both live in Africa but they don't share the same ecological niche: lions live in the savannah while gorillas live in the rainforests... And, compared to humans, the thumbs of gorillas (and chimpanzees) are undeveloped... Also, in a life-for-death fight, gorillas use their big canines (which may indicate they have carnivorous ancestors) and their powerful jaws, not their fists... For instance, when you see a gorilla entering the territory of another gorilla, they grapple and bite each other to death... When they use their fists, it's usually an adult gorilla punching his children to discipline them...
