He scores over half Italian. Most Cretans do. I am convinced seeing so many results that Cretans do not have much mainland Greek ancestry from ancient times and are still strongly 'Minoan'.

I suspect the "Balkan" is the mainland Greek ancestry, but otherwise he plots right in the middle of the Sicilians.

They should still have mainland ancestry, since Crete was colonized by Dorian Greeks. Homer also mentions "There is a land called Crete, in the midst of the wine-dark sea, a fair, rich land, begirt with water, and therein are many men, past counting, and ninety cities. They have not all the same speech, but their tongues are mixed. There dwell Achaeans, there great-hearted native Cretans, there Cydonians, and Dorians of waving plumes, and goodly Pelasgians."

Don't forget that Crete has 15% of R1b and 9% of R1a, even 4% I1, so there has to be rather significant mainland admixture.

I would guess based on Cretan results, with their Balkan score, that they are probably 20% or so mainland Greek, and the rest is pre-Greek Neolithic (most of the Italian comes from here, as southern Italians have a similar root).
