India appears to have banned porn, ordering internet companies to turn off access to adult websites, dating pages and pornographic blogs.

Internet users trying to access the pages over the weekend have found that they are unavailable, apparently following a request from the Indian government.

The bans also include adult dating sites and porn blogs, according to reports from people in India. A list of the banned sites includes Adult Friend Finder — a hugely-popular site to let people find sexual partners — and Fleshbot, a porn blog that writes about news as well as showing highly-explicit photos.

The ban includes 857 sites, according to local reports that cited telecoms companies. The full list has been posted online by the Centre for Internet & Society, in a document that many have pointed out is a hugely comprehensive list of many of the most popular porn sites.

WTF.. That's blasphemy! How could they do that to those poor grown and teenaged Indian men (and some women). How are the citizens of India going to survive without porn? If I was an Indian man I would pack my bags and go to another country. I wouldn't care if I had to become an illegal immigrant. That's a lame reason, I don't think that was the main reason why they banned porn. They're probably using it as an excuse. If porn is filled with all those bad videos then why hasn't the United States and all the other countries ban porn? I've been watching porn off and on since i've been a youngin. I've been on a bunch of different porn websites and i've never seen those videos. The worst thing i've seen were incest videos that weren't even incest.

The porn actresses in the videos were well known and they were sleeping with guys who they weren't related to and looked nothing alike. They were roleplay videos. Someone has to go out of their way and purposely search up those terms to find those bad videos. Someone should have the choice if they want to watch porn or not. Its their right. The choice shouldn't be made for them by their country. I'm glad I live in the United States,which is a free country. Obviously...,

Not all porn websites are banned. Only the most popular( around 857 ) have been removed. There is always torrents, vpn, tor and other peer to peer networks available for downloading illegally.

India still has a long way to go. The country unfortunately, is sexually repressed. Talking openly about sex even within family is taboo. Mainstream movies in Indian cinema rarely ever have kissing! (Although, that is changing thanks to westernization). But given that there's over a billion people in India, you're bound to have more than a couple bad eggs. Relatively speaking, other countries are just as bad.....That isn't to say India's done nothing about it. India has made baby steps, as they have increased penalties for rape crimes.

You're getting the wrong idea here. Its not about being conservative.
