No. Shouldnt he have more matches in Israel to be a jew? He doesnt have any other matches outside of that area. The rest are in the US

Very rarely, because those maps usually work by where people's grandparents are from.

Still I find it very improbable given that jews are such a bottleneck population not to have any matches in Israel.

It doesn't matter about that, it matters about how many Jews there even were in Israel 2 generations ago, and how popular 23andme/FTDNA is amongst their descendants.
I get 0.0% shared even at the lowest settings on the 23andme app.

Can you explain this? You dont have relatives you share with on 23andme?

With Israelis, I meant, on the Countries of Origin app.
Ok this were my brother's Ftdna results. I find them strange. And the Ydna is still on the "expected" stage. Don't know how long it takes for that to be confirmed.
Thanks everybody!

12 markers can be anything but I'm guessing at that step some subclade of I1. I'd say he's I-P109 with more markers. Norman ancestor.

He's E-L117 which is most likely a parent clade of EV-13

he only did 12 markers?
he only did 12 markers?
No 37. But there's only one match at 37 greek, and 3 at the other level (all 3 english i think) I have to check
I dont think think Ftdna gives you the option of 12 markers
edit
at 25 markers there's 3 hamiltons, 1 rowe, 1 belgian and the greek guy. lol

I see. You can pay for only 12 markers but you need to ask them but thats a waste

FTDNA gives an option of ordering 12-marker test but you have to order it through some certain projects, like this one made for such special purpose:
https://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Project_Pending
It's recommended to order any test like that, anyway, because such Y-37 is 20$ cheaper. It's not even a price of one single-SNP test but it's still something.
Actually, what FTDNA now tests is a 14 markers(or more appropriately - 12+2 markers), they decided to include a backbone test.
That's because too many 12 marker predictions were useless... especially concerning G2a vs I-M253 and I2-M223 vs I2-M438. I personally know a guy who was predicted I2-M223 with previous system of 12 markers without backbone and after doing a Big Y he got a subbranch of I2-Din.
