I uploaded hers by mistake and it's under my name. I was like... this CANNOT possibly be right... no way am I 54% East European!

It did pick up her West African, though it is lower than on a lot of GEDmatch calculators. It doesn't pinpoint it exactly but it matches with the regions on the map where the slave trade occurred. She also gets some Finnic, which makes sense given the number of Russian cousins we get on 23andme.

Anywhere from 0.4% to 5%. I've given up trying to guess how much, but it always shows up and is consistent with family history so I just accept it as given. :lol:

I wonder if other Slavic East Euros score Finnish/Siberian. Or just us?

It might just be you guys. One would consider it to make more sense if the Finns were mixed with the Scandinavians, for instance.

I have dozens of Ukrainians, Russians and Belarussians in R1a Project and most of them who did Family Finder score also Finnish

By the way - have you thought about ordering Y-DNA markers at FTDNA, Sikeliot?

This is what I thought. I would have been very surprised if it did not come from that side. I think, judging by our Countries of Ancestry on 23andme we have a Russian ancestor somewhere.


By the way - have you thought about ordering Y-DNA markers at FTDNA, Sikeliot?

I have not. I don't have the money to do so right now :(
