How would you classify Native Indians (Amerindians of North and South America) in terms of racial category? Aside from the Inuits/Yupiks (who are clearly mongoloid of the Siberian type), would you consider them in the broadly mongoloid group or an entirely distinct racial class? I have seen pictures of Native people from North America and a lot of them (especially the tribes in Eastern North American like the Cherokee) have strongly Caucasoid-like features while Native people in South America (especially those in the Brazilian Amazon) have SE Asian mongoloid features. The Andes Natives (like those belonging to the Quechua and Aymara ethnic groups) look like Central Asian Turkic people, while Ache Indians of Paraguay look like East Asian (Chinese or Japanese). Hence, the confusion regarding how we can classify them as a racial group.

What are your opinions on this? Thanks.

They are so diverse. N American ones sort of look N Asian or possibly some kind of Turkic C Asian, almost, S Americans look almost SE Asian, the list goes on. I agree. I would say they are definitely part of the Mongoloid spectrum, but are mixed with other ancient elements.
