Phenomenal Sailing Stones in Death Valley (http://www.travel-to.info/2010/04/phenomenal-sailing-stones-in-death-valley/#98)

This is one of the oddest thing that you’ll probably read today (if you already didn’t before). Could you ever imagine that there are stones that are moving without anyone’s intervention. They just move and it wouldn’t be so bizarre if they would move in only one direction but, they move in many directions and they change their paths so drastically that this becomes pretty scary too.

Those stones are known as ’sailing stones’ and can be found near Racetrack Playa in Death Valley. They were studied by a number of scientists.

Saw a programme on either Discovery or National Geographic that covered these stones. The stones were monitored via time lapse photography; it’s a combination of wind, moisture etc that allows the resistance of the earth to be overcome. The programme gave the impression that this phenomenon is unique to this area of Death Valley?

Jokes apart i wonder how wind can move a stone in that perfect way.
Let's assume it was really wind, you should notice ripples and lifted clods of terrain due to the shape of stone(it is even more weird there aren't lifted clods since terrain is completely dry), and some places where the shape of stone marked the ground more and some less.
It looks like a shape left over velvet instead.
