Born to a Japanese father and an Algerian Berber (Kabyle) mother. She is extemely famous in Japan , and was the most followed celebrity in Japanese media for a while , even her marriage was seen on TV.

With her mother and father:

I remember that I have seen a Kazakh girl that looks similar to her.

IMO make sense since Kazakhs are also a Mongoloid-Caucasoid mix.

I think the reason why she looks more Japanese is because she inherited EDAR mutation from her father:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ectodysplasin_A_receptor#East_Asian_characteristic s

Perhaps if you get this mutation, then you will look more East Asian even if you really are 50/50 mixed.

As I wrote it is probably due to EDAR mutation.

Actually this single mutation is perhaps what makes "Mongoloid" look.

93% of Han Chinese people have this mutation.

She had a 50% chance of inheriting this mutation - right ???

Mixed? Seriously? She has proper facial features that make her a real Japanese, I don't see anything alien elements in her

Uhm? This is what EDAR mutation causes (from wiki):

A point mutation in EDAR, 370A, found in most East Asians but not common in African or European populations, is thought to be responsible for a number of differences between these populations, including the thicker hair, more numerous sweat glands, smaller breasts, and dentition characteristic of East Asians.[5] The difference in dentition was not visible in mice due to the radically different structure of mice from human teeth, but it is considered reasonable that that difference also is due to the mutation.[6] The 370A mutation arose in humans approximately 30,000 years ago, and now is found in 93% of Han Chinese and in the majority of people in nearby Asian populations.

Mongoloid people started to emerge ca. 30,000 years ago.

BTW - she is very beautiful.

Yes.

Perhaps Erika Sawajiri was born to be an exception. Born to a Berber (indigenous north-African) mother and a wealthy Japanese father, her upbringing was anything but standard.

"My mum was born in Algeria but moved here from Paris when she was 24 or 25, met my father and stayed. My grandparents died already and I never met them, so I have no contact with my mom's side, but she has six brothers and sisters that I met when I was a child," she explains.
"I never learned Berber or French, though I will someday, but my mother always listened to Arabic music and Gypsy Kings when I grew up and that makes a big impression."

Growing up mixed-race in Japan is still a rarity, and many feel excluded (http://japanesecultureandlanguage.blogspot.com/2009/03/haafu-and-japanese-culture.html) from Japanese society, as they are considered neither foreign, nor fully Japanese. In recent years attitudes in Tokyo at least have begun to change, thanks to a growing number of celebrities, especially singers, with mixed background. Artists like Crystal Kay (http://www.cnngo.com/tokyo/life/crystal-kay-guerilla-live-comes-and-goes-flash-917649) (Korean and African-American), Thelma Aoyama (Trinidadian and Japanese) and Kaela Kimura (British and Japanese) have started to change public opinion on what it means to be Japanese. Though some like Angela Aki (Italian-American and Japanese) have spoken of challenges (http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fm20090227r1.html) growing up in such an ethnically homogenous nation.

Yes, she does overwhelmingly look ethnically Japanese, from a phenotype standpoint. Although she does still have some exotic features. It seems to be her nose looks a big atypical. In some angles, she strikes somewhat of a resemblance to Ai Shinozaki. I trawled around some Japanese language sites and it seems (amongst the fact that today, she has fallen out of favour and popularity) most agree she looks very good but something about her seems slightly off. But of course, I don't put much stock into the Japanese version of /pol/. It seems to me that most agree she looks mostly Japanese, with non east-asians thinking she looks fully Japanese. Her look is remarkable for being a half-Japanese half-other mix.
