Sorry, Marusya. I am not jealous.

Antonio's stem town and mines are 15 km or shorter of distance each other. I know part of his family -even his brother and some cousins- and they -included Antonio- have a very normal and ordinary features here in our geographical area.

Perhaps the cinema industry in Hollywood has tried always to present him darker than he really is, due to he has played almost exclusively rols of Latinos or Hispanoamericans, even as Arab as well (Warrior number 13).

What makes Antonio not that ordinary has been his hard work, in Malaga when he studied Dramatic Arts -along with a good friend of mine-, in Madrid, and in Hollywood after giving a vigorous jump to the unknown and he didn't stop until to get what he wished. Besides that, he continues being the normal, humble, sincere and ordinary man he used to be from the beginning on. That has been his best achievement IMO. Don't allow fame could change him, always with his feet on the floor.

So, not jelly at all, believe me.

OMG. You KNOW Antonio Bandera's family? Can I be your friend? EL_BARBARO, I'm happy to hear you are not jelly of Antonio. This means you are a secure man and that is a very attractive quality to possess. Seriously, Antonio is a superb actor. I first came to admire him when I chose his work for a research project in college, for a film class. He is a very skilled actor, especially evident in his early work with Pedro Almodóvar.

Moors were mostly Berbers (North Africans) like these:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1LUpSIWLWHs/UlLhQTArRAI/AAAAAAAABYU/le0CYhX6JWg/s1600/Amazingh_tribe_caucasian.jpg

Of course many modern Berbers aren't white anymore because they've been mixing with Gulf Arabs and Sub-Saharan Africans for many years. However, many Berbers are still white, specially the ones who live in small towns. The Moors were depicted as white people by the Iberian painters, who depicted themselves the same way they depicted the Moors:

No.. I don't know directly Antonio. I have friends -old friends since childhood- who know him directly, not from far, but directly. I know some family of him, his brother who works as teacher in a public school, and two cousins of him. I heard of Antonio when he was still working in Madrid, through a good friend of mines who made Dramatic Arts with him here in Malaga in our University. Later, he has jumping to California, without knowing anybody. Into the adventure.

I like films of him in his spanish era. One of my favourite one is Atame, when he worked with Almodovar - along with the spanish actress Victoria Abril, also a great actress like him - another genious like him and of humble origins like him too.

He comes every year here in Easter cause he is hermano mayor of a Cofradia of the Semana Santa and he helps to carry the trono of that Cofradia. Just for such humble attitude he is very beloved and respected by us, by Malacitan people. Fame didn't beat him. Besides that, we like him cause he is also a good actor.

You know, everyone of us -I guess even you- have worked hard in order to get our dreams. Some of us have get them total o partially. He was one of those children in my area -me included- who had his dreams. He and we worked very hard and reached them, without forgetting his or our origins. That is our ideal of life.

Obviously he is more known cause he is an actor, a great actor and good people.

I can be proud of him, but not jealous. I don't know if I could explain.

Saludos.

They are not too weird to meet white people among the Amazigh people -the real name of the inhabitants of NorthAfrica, berbers is how they was called by Arabs, by the way no arabian word but greek, exactly the same as barbarian in English .

One week or ten days ago ago I met a eight-years-old gal with her mother. The girl was total light of skin, light eyed and with extremely fair hair -blondine-, without being Albine. Her mother weren't the typical moroccan either.

Amazigh people are a very old people from North Africa, islamised from the arabian invasion, but not totally changed in their language and particular costumes.

Amazigh language is total different to arabian language, even it has its own alphabet.

That is the cause why I can't avoid certain bothering when they are been called Arabs. Perhaps yes Muslims but not Arabs.

Thank you for providing this background of Antonio Banderas. I appreciate your information. I love Atame, too! (I know it as Tie me up! Tie me down!). I agree that Victoria Abril is so great in that film. I also like "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown."

Yes, this film was also a famous film by Almodóvar here in Spain, and they was remade in Hollywood too.

A very good actress who worked in "Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios" -the original one- was Carmen Maura, a phantastic and great spanish actress as well.

Blacks were present, but they were a scarce minority. There was even more Slavs than blacks.

Anyway, their descendants are in Magreb since the huge expulsion 400 years ago. Yesterday I was in the ruins of a Moorish settlement that became desserted after all their inhabitants were deported, not even today this area has been inhabited again, and all that remains is a water source.

Afrocentrics are always trying to propagate the myth that "Moors" were black. There were Almoravid armies with black conscripts from the Senegal but no settlement to speak of.

Perhaps Waddad would be proud if he knew that all those blacks were slaves...

The Arabs originally brought over some black slaves. The Almoravids recruited blacks from the Senegal to serve in their armies.
