Keep in mind that these maps are for light hair, including light brown. Undoubtedly, a large minority of Southern Europeans have light brown hair, but Scandinavian-type blonde hair is not common at all.

Very light blonde isn't common at all, however I'm sure that dark golden blonde hair is common in Southern Europe because many Brazilians of Portuguese and Italian descent have it (naturally). I'm Brazilian and I know what I'm talking about.

It's distribution is completely random, it doesn't follow any geographical pattern. At least in Portugal it doesn't.

They are common everywhere in Europe, but obviously in a much higher frequency in Northern Europe than Southern regions.

Blond hair and blue eyes are not common in Southern Europe. Many natural blonde, blue-eyed, fair-skinned women are put on a pedestal so to speak. Italian men go crazy for blonde women, especially light or medium blonde ones. The lower frequency of blue-eyed, blonds has to do with the Mediterranean climate which is surely warmer than in Northern European countries such as Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, etc... Though I have seen a few blond Italians, Greeks, Portuguese, Spanish, Southern French, Albanians.
