He is perhaps not completely of Sardinia, or so he has Catalans or Spanish ancestors (which might explain his first name and last name, not sure).
In any case, his phenotype does not seem telement "unknown" in Sardinia.
Then there are many people who are half Sardinian but have inherited their father's last name (and he was not Sardinian).

in Alghero and in the nearby village of Fertilia there are a lot of people with non Sardinian origins, the village of Fertilia was built during the Fascist epoch and was populated with people from various zones of Italy
when I've seen his pictures I thought he was Sicilian or from some other place in south Italy, his surname seems to be very common in Sicily, Campania, Calabria and Apulia
