I don't know about Hungarian genetics, so this is correct? I don't think they are Finno Ugric genetically, maybe a little influence?
they have a high frequency of R1a too...

Hungarians mostly have Slavic, Celtic and Germanic genes (typical European ones). Very few Finno-Ugric ones basically (around 10%). Compare that to Finns who have over 60%.

I read somewhere that Hungarians were a Slavo-Germanic mix.

No. Even Croatians(heck, even Bulgarians/Romanians) are more genetically Slavic than Hungarians. You pretty much can't be considered Slavic if your main Eurogenes K15 component isn't Baltic. They seem to have kept the Slav migrations at bay and kept their previous R1b IE admixture intact(the amount of R1b in Hungary over Hungary's neighbours supports this, as well as autosomal dna of course). Can't say the same thing about west Asian shifted late Iron Age and early Medieval steppic migrations, though.
Like Neon said, they're genetically inbetween Austrians and south Slavs.

they are a mix of the three groups but they are closer to Slavs than they are to British or Scandinavians. it's funny because Hitler was groveling to be accepted by the British and disparaged his slavic brethrens.

Do you think every country that surrounds you is pure? Many countries can be modelled as a mixture of its neighboring countries. It's not only limited to Hungary.

Austrians don't are genetically Germanic? also Celts inhabited the area before GermansI reckon Austrians must be at least half descended from Hallstatt Celts. But they were not the same as the British Celts, of course.

Very true. "Slavic" is a linguistic group, not a genotype.

No, because the Slavic language was not as wide spread as it is now. The people who spread that language also spread some of their genetics, and those people were a distinct group of people. I mean sure, people can make a word what they want it to be, like some Afro-Caribbean living in Britain being British, or some Nigerian who speaks English being an "Anglo-Saxon", but some people want more meaningful definitions of words.
The idea that a Bulgarian and a western marsh Ukrainian are equally Slavic is laughable. Are Uzbeks Slavic, given they speak Russian as a native tongue?

People mistakingly still imagine the first Celts(Hallstatt/La Tene) looking like western British Isles people solely because they were the last ones to speak the language. Very faulty logic.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily meaningless. You are right, of course, that Slavs spread their blood along with their language. But they spread these to similar European peoples. The Magyars are closest to their Slavic neighbors, as we'd expect, but this doesn't make them "Slavic." Genes simply mirror geography in Europe.
Uzbeks are Turkic & Bulgarians are Slavic - notwithstanding other influences.

Pannonian Avars were Turkic most likely but their origins are 'uncertain' according to mainstream historiography. Most accept that they are not at all related to Caucasian Avars though.
