I see Koreans here everyday (both tourists and immigrants), and they look very pale. They are pretty short on average though, and I find Chinese taller on average, and I've seen taller taller ethnic Chinese than taller Koreans.

they dont usually do whitening. they take care of their skin from a young age, think about it they live in the south, where the people are darker because of the son, so they have very fair skin for their location. If koreans, and japanese moved north, they would be white as snow.

Google "Joseon color photos" and you can see quite naturally Korean pigmentation under the sun. If they wear suncream even under florescent indoor lights (and they do, even the men) then you can understand how easily they tan. She says even in the video they apply their makeup every few hours and reapply their sunscreen. This is a brown person. Yeah, they aren't Nigerians, but they aren't much lighter than Philippinos, despite what the Weeaboo/Koreaboo brigade might tell you.

Very interesting. That was what I suspected too.

I live with the one of the top ten Chinese community in europe. Chineses are light skinned like us (with obviously absence of very fair pinkish skinned people), a minority is naturally slight light brown like middle east people.

In summer they walk all tapped out, females on top of that walks with umbrella under our summer sun.

Maybe yes, there is a deep reason.. They skin probably tans very quickly ant intensely in few sun expositions.

While Italians spend weeks and days in summer tanning in purpose at the beach

Korean figure skaters look more light-skinned than the national average probably because of their limited sun exposure. Eunsoo Lim and Kim Yuna, for instance. Eunsoo is without makeup in the photo below and she's naturally white-skinned.
