I've moved away from photos in dark clubs. In my opinion the features are still the same, but less trashy makeup and whatnot.

Do you think the closest non-Italian group is Aegean islanders or is it Ashkenazi Jews? Or neither?

I mean obviously they look generally Mediterranean and southern European but they fit better in the Levant or Turkey than in Germany, UK, France and so on.

Not sure if you saw this one but where do these pass... these are from Lampedusa, which (if history is correct) should have an extra Levant element due to proximity to Malta and isolation. They do look a bit "exotic" as a group to me.

I think it depends on where in Greece. I think people from Macedonia, Thessaly, and Thrace would be closer to Bulgarians, Epirotes and Western Greeks to Albanians, while Aegean islanders and Cretans are basically identical to Sicilians.

But in the long run all of these groups are close -- certainly more so than to anyone else (i.e. even Bulgarians look closer to Sicilians than the majority of Europeans do).

some do indeed look similar to lebanese and tunisinians but only a minority. as a group they re phenotypically closer to turks (and the genetic distance between them and turks is the same as the genetic distance with lebanese) who are more european genetically than both tunisinians and lebanese

Depending on the person, it's either North Italian or Lebanese first. People from Calabria, Messina/Catania and roughly half of Palermitans definitely score Lebanon first.
