He's just another talented singer from the Philippines.

Honestly, I think he sings the song better than the original singer, Sam Smith.

Deutero-Malayid, with some South Asian influence

I wonder if they will ever discover a real music gene associated with Filipinos.

Thanks for the classification, my man.

Well, to answer your question. Among Filipinos, propensity to sing is sorta genetic, the are certain castes like the nobles and warriors who were considered good singers.

Visayans were particularly known to have sung almost all the time.

The American anthropologist-historian William Henry Scott, quoting earlier Spanish sources, in his book "Barangay: Sixteenth Century Philippine Culture and Society", also recorded that Visayans were a musically minded people who sang almost all the time, especially in battle, saying:

Visayans were said to be always singing except when they were sick or asleep. Singing meant the extemporaneous composition of verses to common tunes, not the performance of set pieces composed by musical specialists. There was no separate poetic art: all poems were sung or chanted, including full-fledged epics or public declamations. Singing was unaccompanied except in the case of love songs, in which either the male or female singers accompanied themselves on their respective instruments, kudyapi or korlong. Well-bred ladies were called upon to perform with the korlong during social gatherings, and all adults were expected to participate in group singing on any occasion.

Indo-Mongoloid. Looks Bengali, but that can only be a coincidence. Probably just a mix of Mongoloid and Australoid

Passes perfectly as Gypsy here. Unlikely not to have some Indian blood...
