View Full Version : Solve this puzzle if you can!
Apparently, only 1 in 1,000 people get this right. I got it within about 15 seconds. :p
1 + 4 = 5
2 + 5 = 12
3 + 6 = 21
8 + 11 = ?
Good luck! :thumb001:

1 + 4 = 5
5 + 2 + 5 = 12
12 + 3 + 6 = 21
21 + 8 + 11 = 40
or
(4 * 1) + 1 = 5
(5 * 2) + 2 = 12
(6 * 3) + 3 = 21
(11 * 8) + 8 = 96

The answer is 40!
Only 1 in 1,000? I don't believe it.
1 + 4 = 5
5 + 2 + 5 = 12
12 + 3 + 6 = 21
21 + 8 + 11 = 40
or
(4 * 1) + 1 = 5
(5 * 2) + 2 = 12
(6 * 3) + 3 = 21
(11 * 8) + 8 = 96
I see. So our answer is incomplete. Not that I couldn't have got to that alternative, but most people usually stop at the first pattern they see and don't look further.

40 i think
I don't see the importance of these patterns tbh
Are they a legit thing in Math? (excuse my ignorance)

I didn't do any exhausting math. I did basic order 123.....+4567.... and the answers were adding prime numbers 7,9,11....
Is it suppose to complicated, I'm so lazy.

Ahh, another good day of half done mediocre work. Good for us that got 40 or 96.
