Debaptise Yourself! (http://www.secularism.org.uk/debaptise-yourself.html)

Liberate yourself from the Original Mumbo-Jumbo that liberated you from the Original Sin you never had!

"The growing amount of interest in the concept of de-baptism indicates that people are not just indifferent to religion – which has been the traditional British approach – but are actually becoming quite hostile to it."

- Terry Sanderson. President, National Secular Society

The certficate declares:

I ________ having been subjected to the Rite of Christian Baptism in infancy (before reaching an age of consent), hereby publicly revoke any implications of that Rite and renounce the Church that carried it out. In the name of human reason, I reject all its Creeds and all other such superstition in particular, the perfidious belief that any baby needs to be cleansed by Baptism of alleged ORIGINAL SIN, and the evil power of supposed demons. I wish to be excluded henceforth from enhanced claims of church membership numbers based on past baptismal statistics used, for example, for the purpose of securing legislative privilege.”

Wait I have to pay to debaptise myself when I could just stop going to church for free? :p

Rather pathetic, really. If a person well and truly renounces baptism and the Church, they would find no need for a certificate.

Seems an awfully conceited manner in which to denounce a simple made up story living in people's imagination ... isn't it?

Is there money involved?

Ah! I see.

I was under the impression that according to the (Catholic) Church, you cannot de-baptise yourself. Once you're baptised, that's it.

Maybe it's time to approach the Papist in his Q&A thread again.

You can't be debaptised, no. What I meant when I said "renounces baptism", is denying that baptism has any effect. If a person looks at baptism as nothing more than some water on their head when they were an infant, then there is no need for a certificate.

I thought religion was a lot of hooey? These people are more religious than most Catholics.
