All the shit my people been through. The Ottoman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:OttomanEmpireIn1683.png) and Austrian (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6e/Austrian_empire.png) occupations, the robbing of our children (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janissary#Recruitment.2C_training_and_status) by the Turks to become Janissaries, the British interventionism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russo-Turkish_War_%281877%E2%80%931878%29#Intervention_b y_the_Great_Powers), the fucking Balkan wars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balkan_Wars), the world wars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbian_Campaign_%28World_War_I%29#Casualties), the civil war (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslavian_civil_war), the illegitimate NATO bombing campaign (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_NATO_bombing_of_Yugoslavia)... This has had a very devastating effect on the economy of Yugoslavia.

Don't believe me? That's all right because I have data for you that will probably make your jaws drop. The GDP of Yugoslavia at 1991 was $120 billion in 1991 dollars (thanks to the socio-economic collapse of Yugoslavia in the years leading up to 1991). What is the total GDP of former Yugoslavia today? $268 billion. Now you might look at that figure as if there had been a somewhat normal gain despite all the shit the country had been through in the last 20 years. Wrong!

Why? Because you're looking at 1991 dollars and comparing it to 2009 dollars. What is $268 billion in 1991 dollars? $172 billion. That's right, Yugoslavia's economy only grew by a whole $52 billion for the last 20 years. That's pretty fucking terrible if you ask me.
