When you think of it, is this really something that weird?

Russia – Hundreds of monuments were erected across Russia that promote the traditional family model. Father, mother and children are in focus, with occasional family pet. These images represent and portrait how a traditional Slavic family (from a Russian view) should look like in spite of what some American and European groups aggressively promote and make pressure on Russia. h/t: pikabu

This is a Russian strike back on politics that come from the west and promote bearded women and other similar new phenomenons:

Since when has the support of the traditional family become a sign of homophobia? Maybe enough with their traditional-phobia? said forum user McSneg

In irony some Russian members noted “Now they will think we are a backward country, with these barbaric alien values according to Europeans. We don’t have bearded women and transgender statues!”

What do you think, are we really living in times when this is considered weird?

Well, Russia is the size of a continent and has a population of only 140 million that is declining. They need as many traditional families with multiple children as possible.

Good idea but sad that they need statues to promote it

Hilarious how the word 'homophobia' is mentioned in the article. Is it a strawman? People are really obsessed here (Russians believing 'gay propaganda' is mainstream in Western Europe I mean) :D Russia is a homophobic society, and even if I support gay rights, I think such statues serve a purpose that's far outside this subject. One has to realise though that statues are mere symbols. Real incentives for promoting families (like funding couples with children) are needed to really make a change.

This is a counter revolutionary activity, Stalin himself said a Bolshevik shouldn't have a family. It opposes the individualism concept. Xoxol and Rumata must restore the rule now! lol:-

Western hemisphere countries, and Australia and NZ should learn from Russia, and do the same.

Stupid happy-leftists and progressists would rip their garments, and come up saying that these statues are pro-Nazi, and homophobic symbols :picard1:

Can you provide an insight on good examples that western society can learn from? I think situation is exactly the opposite. In my view it Europe that is more progressive in terms of human values and rights.

As for problem of low fertility rate then let they learn how to do it properly from african and islamic countries that is more succesfull in it.

What could be more weird than families holding hands? Russians truly are monsters.

We have statues similar to that in my local area. There are some at the cemetery, in the local parks, and in the courtyard of the library. Many were sculpted by Derek Wernher.

On a weird personal note one of my neighbors has a couple bronze statues of people lounging on several benches in his front yard. I expect that kind of thing in a park where it is a nice decoration, but staring out onto the street is reeeeaaaaaaalllllly creepy.

In my parents' neighborhood, where I grew up, there is an eccentric wealthy businessman who has a miniature golf course, a golf cart race track and a small park with carnival rides and miniature castles in his backyard. He also collects statuary. He has a huge gorilla sculpture in his front yard. He hosts an annual fourth of July picnic with a huge fireworks show for the neighborhood every year. He is like 80 years old and has a 30 year old 2nd wife. His first wife contracted MS. He divorced her but relocated her to a very nice condo. He pays for her support. Anyway, Fred appears once at the picnic to say hello to everyone and then disappears. We call him the great Gatsby. lol

theres nothing wrong with this. :picard1: its really nothing to do with being «backward» -- no such thing here. but its up to people to interpret. to me its just some harmless decors thats every where.

I support these statues. Better than 3 million ugly Lenins and Stalins. I think they are beautiful if tastefully placed within the community. Moreover, we should support traditional families. They are the fabric of a civilized, high functioning society.
