I have a friend who had a Jewish grandparent, family lore said he was a Mountain Jew.
he has just got his 23andme results back, and it gave him 25% Ashkenazi. He also has some Polish ancestry, which seems to be covered by an Eastern Europe percentage. the rest of his known ancestry is French and English. His results also give very small percentages for SSA, Italy, Balkan, Sardinia.
I'm wondering if this means his grandfather was definitely a straight forward ashkenazi and not a Mountain Jew after all?
