Most of the SNPs that they use to test for "College" aren't even tested by 23andMe (at least I don't have a lot of them tested), but they somehow use them anyway. Don't ask me how  This certainly has something to do with their "Preliminary" confidence.
The eye color thingy uses only 6 SNPs. What year is this, 2009? The Gedmatch one uses 50-something SNPs. DNA Land probably just puts 90% of the weight of their decision on the SNP rs12913832. It's really basic compared to the Gedmatch one.
Anyway, here it is:

Where can I find this? I am guessing it has something to do with Trait Prediction report? If so, it still says 'In progress' despite the fact I have uploaded my raw data billion years ago.
Reminds me of the IQ Bell Curve]
A lot of random variables such as intelligence, years in school and so on, more or less follow the so called normal distribution (or Gaussian or sometimes called Bell Curve) despite the fact there is some correlation between years of schooling and IQ.

I got 14.7 years for education which is slightly elevated compared to how long I was educated for. However it is hard to relate the snps the dna land assessment uses with how long I spent being educated, as my education was prematurely cut short by a nervous breakdown.
As a result I never went to college/university as the assessment suggests.
They said brown eyes. Mine are hazel. Given the simple choice between brown and blue I guess you could say it's as accurate as possible, which isn't saying much.

The thing is relating intellectual ability to years in education is problematic anyway. If you have a very bright kid they may end up in college in the number of years it takes an average student to get to mid high school level.
It in no way accounts for people who are fast tracked through the educational system.

Chloe,
Thanks for rep comment saying that it should work with FTDNA too.
However, I doubt that it will be accurate with FTDNA, due to this data:
http://dna.frieger.com/conditions.php
As you can see FTDNA is just not testing for most of alleles of this kind.
23andMe is the best for "medical genetics", and maybe Genomix will be:
http://www.genomix.co
The site is called Genomix and is apparently run by the University of Sydney in Australia.
They will sequence the whole genome (3 billion base pairs) at a 30x coverage, which is excellent (better than most testing companies). The raw data will be available for download to use on third-party services. The kit won't be delivered until end of 2017 though. The price is a mere AUD $200 (135€ or USD $150). Sounds like a good opportunity considering that most whole genomes test costs around USD $1000 to $2000.

I was kind of joking, but lighter colors are somewhat more popular in my family. While most people have brown eyes, two of my cousins have turquoise eyes.
I'm fairly certain it's your Basque.
Or, it could be that your Native American Ancestry is not as dark-pigmented as some of the others. For example, my skin tone is FAR darker than yours, and me and you are around the same genetically.

Yeah same at mine. My sister's got blue eyes, my mum's got hazel eyes, her brother blue eyes and three out of my four grandparents have got light eyes.

In the trait report, what does my ancestry group under Frequency mean? (top)
Our predictions take into account varying allele frequencies between populations in order to cancel out baises introduced by population stratification. The allele frequencies are taken from the 1000 Genomes Project and are grouped into five broad ancestry categories. The allele frequencies from one of these groups are applied to your predictions based on your inferred ancestry.

I reckon it means according to genetics you are "expected" to have a certain degree or education, for instance I suppose Whites and Asians attend college in a much higher rate than Hispanics and African-Americans.
But it's got nothing to do with intelligence but rather with the education level reached.
To be honest I don't really know how it works either... The website should say it somewhere though.
Also it's weird to compare among nations because for instance Law is 5 years in Chile but only 3 years in Britain.

In my case, their predictions vs. reality:
"Likely to have Blue Eyes" = correct, indeed I have blue-ish eyes
"Likely taller than average" = yes taller than average but I'm still almost 15 cm taller than their prediction*
"Average Coffee Consumption" = they predict 2.8 cups per day and I usually drink 2-3 cups, so correct
"You have completed college" = I need to show it to my professors, maybe I will get exempt from exams... :rolleyes2:
