If you're into The Tindersticks, Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, etc, then you could do much worse than check out the (fantastic) album El Manifiesto Desastre by Spanish singer/songwriter Nacho Vegas (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nacho_Vegas):

For fanz of hair metal, the two albums released by ex-KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent are worth checking out. Although suprisingly not widely known today even amongst fans of the scene, they've become something of a cult favorite amongst genre connoisseurs (internet helps with that too). It's not hard to see why, the combination of Vinnie's superior songwriting (he saved KISS's career) and lyric writing (his sensuously sleazy lyric cliches are a cut above the usual rock cliches ;)) combined with the helium-high vocals of former Journey singer Robert Fleischmann on the first record, and the helium-high vocals of future Slaughter singer Mark Slaughter on the second, super-polished 80's production, OTT image (even for the time) and ludicrously tastless guitar playing (which actually compliments the style perfectly) create the perfect period piece and make it easy to see why they've become favorites with all People of Taste and Culture :thumbs up :thumbs up
The first album is the better IMO.

It's a little difficult to pigeonhole Ukraine's Nokturnal Mortum, except of course in the "pure awesomeness" category.
Atmospheric NSBM with shades of folk/prog perhaps?
Anyways, their 2009 album The Voice of Steel is effing amazing.

HaWthorn is the collaboration of Tony Wakeford (Sol Invictus) and Matt Howden (Sieben) bringing dark atmospheric music. Both artists have during the last ten years produced a vast number of recordings which went down in cult album history. And with their current release "The Murky Brine", they bring a mixture that holds a consistent inclusion of percussion, piano, alternating vocals (Tony and Matt) and samples as opposed to just the usual guitar, violin, vocal arrangements. 49 minutes of absolutely essential listening for all fans of the dark folk / dark ambient genre and especially of both bands.

Sweden's Astral Doors updates Black Sabbath's, Rainbow's etc. formula for the 21st Century.
The band's music is instantly recognisable, yet has a character all of its own. And vocalist Patrik Johansson is fantastic. Highly recommended for fans of classic hard rock/heavy metal.

Anna Calvi's (http://www.annacalvi.com/) debut album isn't perfect, but it's so rare these days that one hears a really fresh and talented new artist that I can't help but recommend it.
Fans of Siouxie Sioux and P. J. Harvey, check her out. :thumbs up
I just hope she disassociates herself from that tired, boring old whore Nick Cave as soon as possible. No matter how much he tries to attach himself to new artists who do something actually interesting, he just cannot maintain the illusion that he is somehow relevant any longer.

And here comes another contender for Album of the Year, this time in the Folk/World/Avant Garde genres: Uniko by Kimmo Pohjonen (http://www.kimmopohjonen.com/), Samuli Kosminen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuli_Kosminen#Samuli_Kosminen) and the Kronos Quartet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kronos_Quartet).
