With the elections coming up very soon, there is a lot of hype everywhere, including on university campuses. Last night, I was omw to the nearby 7-11 to get something to eat at 2:30 AM cause I was hungry and couldn't sleep, and on the way, I walked past 2 kids drawing on the sidewalk with chalk and we waved at each other. I thought to myself "why are they drawing at 2:30 AM, are the secret trump supporters?", and I walked like 5 meters further to find "TRUMP 2k16" on the sidewalk. I immediately knew this was going to cause a shit storm on campus when everyone woke up the next morning. As I expected, later in the morning, I woke up, was on my way to the gym, and saw students spitting on the "TRUMP 2K16" writings, smudging them out with their feet, and getting their own chalky crossing it out and writing no. Funnily enough the trump supporters came back, crosses out their "no," and wrote "YES." Some students went as far as running into the dining hall, filling up a bunch of ice cream cones, then leaving the dining hall and dumping ice cream all over the trump writings. By this tonight, the campus was messy.
I don't support trump (or Hilary, for that matter), but I believe all the students should have a right to express their opinion, because it's not against university rules to write on the sidewalk with chalk for political reasons. Also some of the writings were really friendly, inviting students to the Republicans club saying "everyone welcome!" With a smiley face, people still smudged those. There are giant writings for stupid things such as this April chick at my school (I don't even know who the fuck she is), but she keeps spamming the sidewalk by asking for homecoming votes, but nobody cares about that even though that's even more annoying. Two years ago, someone sparky painted "black lives matter" in front the library entrance on campus, and nobody cared even though the University had to shell out $$$ to get it removed off the sidewalk when the kids who did it could have just used chalk..
I used to not believe people when they said that opposing views are blocked, but now I see it. Anything trump gets spit on, accessed of being racist, and just not tolerated. Just check this out:
