During my travel in this countries i noticed that Maldivians are a bit lighter, despite they live closer to equator than Sri Lankans, and sun is more aggressive.
And i also want to ask Sri Lankans, is there difference between Sri Lankans who live on coast and who live in areas with cool climate like Nuwara Elia?

They also have some Malay and North African genes in them as well.

Maybe upper caste Sri Lankans(like Brahmins) are lighter though.

in South Asia there isn't really any point in comparing regions as a whole, as there is a lot of variation when you go from caste to caste.

I thought maldivians were descendants of indian immigrants ( ?)

I don't know much about that part of the world

Thats because they have Arabian admixture in them. There were Arab traders who had settled on this islands and assimilated and intermarried with the locals.

That's true, the Sinhalese who immigrated from Northern and Central India are MUCH lighter than Tamils.

Sinhalese are a bit lighter than Tamils overall, yes. But not by much.

They are genetically the closest to Bengalis and Tamils.

Maldivians. They're at the southernmost point of the Indo-European world, its only 48 miles north of the Equator. They're also the least Caucasoid Indo-European group, as their Papuan/Australoid component is much higher. They're on the opposite end of the Caucasoid spectrum as Icelanders, who are not only the lightest Europeans but also the lightest people group on Earth.
