Mayor (the first one) and councillors from Udine, in northeastern Italy, in the middle of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps (Alpi Carniche), less than 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Slovenian border.

The mayor of Udine is Mario Honsell and was born in Genoa, Liguria. Honsell doesn't seem an Italian surname.

In this collection of pics you can see the Biodiversity of North? Italians. This group is not unique - not able to assign to any population of other countries.

The major cities like milano, torino ecc basically are southern italian enclaves,in the alpine region you can find more native and "pure" people

Pirone and Pizza are only southern Italian though. But others in the OP can be not from Friuli, and others not fully from there. The mayor of Udine hasn't even an Italian surname.

I don't know, but not few. In the main cities are not less than 30% or 40% maybe. Probably even more.

North Italians in the OP are likely 60% of the sample.

I'm a bit surprised because no one has chosen Slovenia. Udine is very close from Slovenian border and there are not geographical barriers. Why are there so little slavic input in NE Italy?

I think NE Italians can resemble croats (and to a lesser extent, slovenians too)

But as a group these people don't look slovenian at all.

Apart from the most typical ones, you really cant guess people's origin based on their last name. Even in my area that's pretty homogenous, half of the surname are not stricly typical, yet it can't be said they arent aborigenal of the place.
For instance pizza doesn't refer necessarily to the pizza you eat,Parma's mayor Pizzarotti comes to my mind.

There aren't official stats, and surely those avalaible aren't accurate. Anyway a great percentage of North Italian population is of Southern Italian origin. Much more in the urbanized areas of North Italy than let's say in the Alps. I will be back again on this.

This is something that an Italian nationalist can ask, not a Galician. Trust me. ;)

Greece. However, having visited Venice, people there didn't strike me as being as Mediterranean-looking as this sample.

Yeah, some of these people may not be ethnically NE Italian (at least not fully)

I'll go with Greece.
