Navya, French company of electric automated guided vehicles

Navya has developed driverless vehicles that can move safely without any special infrastructure and without human intervention.

Navya has been designed as a complement to traditional transportation, whether individual or collectively, the "first and last mile".
Navya is the perfect companion environments requiring simple mobility, secure and environmentally friendly.

Navya’s flagship vehicle, the Arma (http://navya.tech/?lang=en#arma-en), was in development for 10 years before it was launched in October 2015. The Arma is completely electric and autonomous and can carry up to 15 passengers and drive up to 45 km/hour (28 miles per hour). The company already has vehicles on the road in Lyon in a public transportation project, along with other unnamed strategic agreements, and it also has plans to manufacture and roll them out also in the Middle East in partnership with Group8.
Meeting demand from municipal organizations, and companies that have closed but large campuses that require transportation to move from point A to B, the aim is to have 30 vehicles in use by the end of this year, the company said.
While that will give Navya a jump on the market for autonomous shuttle buses, it is not the only one putting its pedal to the metal to meet demand.
This past summer, IBM showed off its first Watson-powered foray into self-driving cars, which came in the form of Olli, a minibus from Local Motors (https://techcrunch.com/2016/06/16/ibms-watson-makes-a-move-into-self-driving-cars-with-olli-a-minibus-from-local-motors/). Mercedes-Benz also recently reached a milestone when its autonomous bus completed a 12-mile journey (https://techcrunch.com/2016/07/18/self-driving-mercedes-benz-bus-takes-a-milestone-12-mile-trip/). Even Yandex, the Russian search giant that has more recently been repositioning itself as a mobile and machine learning company, is building a shuttle bus (https://techcrunch.com/2016/08/26/russias-google-equivalent-is-building-a-self-driving-shuttle/).

Competition, it seems, was part of the reason for seeking investment, particularly from strategic partners that could help Navya grow.
“To secure sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive context, we have chosen a partnership strategy that allows us, on the one hand, to optimize costs with the offers of one of the largest automotive suppliers to stay competitive, and on the other hand to ensure most effectively the international deployment of our autonomous mobility solution, the Navya Arma,” said Christophe Sapet, the startup’s chairman, in a statement.
“Achieving faster critical volumes will reduce investments from cities and companies who wish to equip themselves with intelligent and autonomous mobility solutions and thus accelerate the growth of our company.”
Among the investors in this latest round, Navya has some companies with some existing track record in the self-driving space.

I think this is an innovative and great invention.

It kind of reminds me of the driverless pods at Heathrow Airport. The UK government said they want driverless pods all over cities and towns here by 2017. The government are using Milton Keynes as the testing area for these planned driverless pods. Well, I've still not seen any of them around yet, so only time will tell if they'll arrive by next year.

We've had driverless DLR trains in London's Dockland Islands for a few decades, but to have driverless buses on the road is something we've yet to see here. I think it's a good idea - although bus drivers may not like losing their jobs to technology.

Obsession with either American gas guzzlers or those new generation Japanese sportscars is too high for any of these electric cars to stand a chance on the market.

If I read right they cost 220,000 Euro a piece. You could buy a supercar with that money, that will take you where you want to go much faster, much funner, and in much more style.

Unless something happens and petrol and diesel completely run out from the planet, these have no future.

Why buy supercar to move groups of people? oo

Moreover, this is the high price the current time, once it is larger and more widespread Language @, prices will fall.

Just see the next Tesla Model 3 which looks less than $ 35,000.

The power and the autonomous car will be the norm of tomorrow is the logical evolution.

for 35,000 you can get a brand new 2016 5.0 V8 Mustang with 435 horsepower

And what is the point of having so much power on limited speed road?

If it's for aesthetics, so take a Jaguar F-Type, a Maserati or an Aston Martin, Porsche, etc etc.

Tesla is beautiful, electric, silent and filled with the latest technology.

Because powerful cars are incredibly fun to drive. My own car is only 220 horsepower, half of that Mustang, and thats what my financials allow me to have, but if I could afford a Mustang I would 100% be driving one.
.
For what reason - just because its a ton of fun on the road, flying past traffic. No other reason needed

Electric cars - no fun.

But its not a car,its just a big RC toy,you can't ever replace the magic of combustion with a toaster 4 wheeler. Its like driving a scooter and thinking you drive a motorbike.

Without a burning heart a car is not a car

While the first cars were not cars?
Because it worked to steam, then to the power.

Slowly but surely, the world is going to head towards electric and self-driving cars.

They still had the basic same major components, pistons, rods, crankshaft, valves.Steam and IC engines are mostly identical apart from the fuel system.

An electric motor is a completely different thing.
