The National Coalition Party is adhering to its view that an increasingly globally interconnected world is moving in an increasingly open direction bringing good things to all who are affected.
“We have moved permanently to an open world in which isolation is the exception. Even those countries, in which people and goods do not have completely free mobility are forced to adapt to the flow of life in the free world”, says the Chairman of the National Coalition Party, Minister of Finance Jyrki Katainen.
Katainen was speaking in Helsinki on Saturday at a National Coalition Party event on municipal policy.

Katainen noted that the global economy has raised concerns about employment.
“It is the obligation of responsible political parties to bring order into this uncertainty - not by closing borders, but by making it possible to live in uncertainty with a feeling of security.”

In his political situation report Katainen praised the work of the present government in matters of social welfare.
“Never in this country has there been as large an increase in minimum benefits as has been implemented now. This is the objective truth, and not just the personal opinion of an excited and proud minister of finance.”

In the seminar, attended by the party’s municipal councillors, Katainen went through prospects for the future.
He said that great challenges today include the time after the economic crisis, with its deficits, as well as the ageing of the population.
“Five years from now, there will be 100,000 fewer working-aged people in Finland than there are now. At the same time, demand for services is increasing.”

In English: I will admit, that trust in the political system has no doubt been eroded in the eyes of many. On the other hand, we have studies that indicate that trust in the political has not eroded, because it never was very strong to begin with. :lightbul:
