I guess my only question is: what does elephant taste like? What's the best way to cook it? Does it make good BBQ?

Waste not a thing. I'd have gone straight for the tusks. Perhaps the skull too.

Just like human meat, just a bit more greasy.

The sad thing is John, people probably died for those tusks :(!

These pictures are sad. They were apparently taken in Zimbabwe where people are so hungry, they resort to taking meat from animals that died of God knows what.

Fuck Mugabe. Seriously.

You are correct. They are starving. I suppose it doesn't matter who are what eats the meat. It's a source of food.

Well if the elephant died of a disease could that not be dangerous? The digestive systems of humans are not the same as that of animals who are scavengers, we're meant to kill our food and eat it not eat something that's already dead.

It would be like eating meat from fridge after a long power outage... Not a good idea.

Quite right for people who are used to eating normally, but these people are really starving, and their bodies have adapted to eating almost anything.

A while ago, rural people were eating sand mixed with grass. :( So so sad. Mugabe is a total bastard.

Look at this historical document made by Bizantine writer Procopius of Cesaria
(from "De Bello Gothico", book II, "The situation of Italy during the Greek-Gothic wars", Dark Age)

Some of them were so afflicted from the hunger to eat each others: and it is also said that also two women, in a certain countryside beyond Rimini, ate 17 men; becouse they were the only survivors in that village, the ones who travelled in that used to stay in the house inhabited by them, and these latter, killed them while they were sleeping, eat them. It is said that the 18th guest, waked up while these women were going to stab him, jumped on them and by them he learnt the whole story, and both he killed.

Nor for the same reason were the Tuscans less hitted by the the hunger; of it the inhabitants of the mountains, milling acrons of oak like wheat, used to make with it bread, that after they ate. It followed naturally that most people were hitted by deseases of every kind, and only few survived.

The situation described is very similar.

Looking at the 1st photo the elephant would have recently died.
No blown stomach.
If it died from a disease it is likely to be Antracks

Then again, those same villagers knew 50 years ago to plant mielies and sweet potatoes and other vegetables. Mugabe knows that and that makes him a double bastard.
He should have given the farms to the people

Well, exactly, Klippie. Sad sad sad, and horrifying. However, that's a dictator for you. Only out to enrich himself and his cronies, and let the people starve.

It's tactical too. Those who vote ZANU-PF get fed. Those that don't are left to starve.

The horror stories I could tell about Zim...
