Hi, I recently discovered that I could get my Y-Haplogroup by converting my ancestry.com raw data into 23andMe formated data with a DNAconverter, then using a 23andMe to Y-SNP converter and then using Chris Morely's Y-SNP subclade predictor website.

My results after doing all this and following instructions seem to indicate that my Y-Haplogroup is I2a2a1c1b.

Could anyone tell me much about I2a2a1c1b?

Thanks

Ask Rethel, he is crazy about haplogroup I.

I guess I should do that, looking at some old conversations about haplogroups in this forum in which Rethel was involved has led me to believe that abit of a rivalry between people who are haplogroup I and people who are haplogroup R.

Why is that?

Interesting, what is your haplogroup??

I have a strange feeling that I might be equally surprized by his diagnosis.

Google seems to agree with him, but maybe its just a very common haplogroup among Jews.

Although of course our haplogroup is just a small part of who we are.

As for myself, my father was 1/4 Swedish, 1/4 French, 1/2 English with his father being 1/2 French and 1/2 Swedish and his father being 100% Swedish.

So, I should think that my Y DNA is Swedish, and there seems to be a fair amoung I2A2 in the northern part of Sweden from this map I was looking at:

https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.eupedia.com%2Fimage s%2Fcontent%2FHaplogroup-I2b.gif&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.anthrogenica.com%2Fshow thread.php%3F5149-I2a2-(I-M436)-Germanic-origin&docid=0LnUU_6nFHPvPM&tbnid=XqlCaNGBnKBQ4M%3A&vet=1&w=800&h=544&bih=887&biw=1921&ved=0ahUKEwj0-Ini8c7QAhXm54MKHZabB7UQMwgjKAEwAQ&iact=mrc&uact=8

I however have no idea what the rest of the letters mean. Trying to improve my understanding of haplogroups.

I always thought you were J2 because of your Kurdish ethnicity.

Btw, haplogroup E is very rare in Kurds, right?

:picard2:

No, I didn't.
I only said, that if you has the same clade as Longbowman,
and you are from Kurdistan or something like that area, then
maybe - MAYBE - you were resettled with Israelites from the
northern Kingdom by Assyrians.
