Trieste is a city and seaport in northeastern Italy. Trieste was one of the oldest parts of the Habsburg Monarchy. As a prosperous seaport in the Mediterranean region, Trieste became the fourth largest city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (after Vienna, Budapest, and Prague).

These people look Italians.

But Trieste has big Slovene minority and in villages surrounding the city. Lot of Croats too, I have lot of friends studying there.

So it is fairly too mixed city to be representative if Northeast Italian phenotypes.

Most look "Italian" with a minority showing German tendencies. As a group they can't pass either but closer to Austrians.

These people posted by Artabro have surnames from any area of Italy, from Sicily to North Italy and none of them has an Italian-Slovene or Italian-Croat surname. They represent more a typical internal Italian melting pot rather than a sample of Triestini (but Trieste has always been a cosmopolitan city, even during the Austro-Hungarian Empire).

I agree. From many visits to the area native Italians there quite recognizable looks: mixture of alpinid, noric and atlanto-med phenotypes , sometimes Borreby too.

Even northern Italians still look Italian. The difference between South and North is minimal. These people are swarthy dagos and can't pass as Austrian. They can pass as Greeks better.

False. Differences between north and south Italians are quite visible. I been to Italy more than 40 times, from Udine to Calabria.

Southerners have lot of gracile med phenotyoes and are darker than northerners, but both look equally recognizable features.

It' a long peninsula and genticaly varied too, so differences are natural.

Btw Austrians are by no means especially light compared to North Italians. Both are quite European average pigmentation, more or less.

Being you are from Rijeka, you don't need a thread to know how North Italians look.

It's funny that Artabro and you have the same agenda and Artabro is the best friend of anti-Italians in this forum. ;)

Foreigner is one of those Romanians who are anti-Italian in this forum and every opportunity is good for him to troll the Italians, he is quite funny.

If I post a Italian city council then I'm accused of being an anti-Italian poster. If I post a Spanish city council I'm accused of being an anti-Spanish poster. I have a lot of fun with these "charges".

People should get over the fact North Italians look almost the same as Southern Italians, but some people always focus on that 5% of each of these groups which sticks out and look non Italian.

On average 9 out of 10 times you'll mistake a Southern Italian as native in Veneto than a German tourist.

You've an agenda of posting the most "exotic" people and being a cherrypicker. This is well known.

Not true, there are many Germans who could be mistaken as native of every part of Italy as well.

I've posted all councillors of Triste, mayor included, the lightest and the darkest ones.. Even I've posted the official link. If you don't like them, it's not my problem.

How come nearly all taxonomy threads made by you were about blonde, lighter than average Italian women. What kind of sick agenda you have, and i'm not trying to defend the poster of this thread, but it's funny said by someone like you and i just had to visit your page and open the countless repetitive threads of "classify this blonde italian"

Yes. There is a 'Sicilian' poster here that always emphasize this suposed difference between northerners and southerners. He always cherrypick Southern Italians to make them look Levantine.

Probably most councillors are native Northern Italians (it would be rare if the contrary), although I have not checked.

Greece.

Anyway until you ridicule me for saying Sicilians can pass in West Asia, you need to cope with the fact that genetically they are closer to West Asians than to 90% of Europeans. Deal with it.

Of course no. Even the mayor has a southern Italian surname. Dipiazza>Di Piazza, very likely Sicilian.

Well with the threads and posts you make, you play into it and have clearly chosen your side. Can't blame anyone but yourself when you get caught in the crossfire.

With that said, Sicilians and other related populations in Europe (Cretans, Aegean islands, mainland southern Italians, Ashkenazim, and Maltese) are all intermediate between Europe and West Asia. If you do not like it, too damn bad.

Non diventare paranoico, stai perdendo la stima che avevo di te... gli utenti del sud (se ce ne sono ancora) non postonano di certo sud italiani con lo scopo di farli passare al nord.
