Mrs. Psychonaut

Hello, I'm finally making my introduction here. I am Psychonaut's wife obviously. I'm interested in all of the topics discussed here. I am currently working towards my BA in History and my research specialties are:

Celto-Germanic Folklore and Seasonal Ritual, esp. as it culminates in the British Isles and in contemporary American culture.

And also:

The Southern United States - Southern Colonial through Post-Antebellum: Our ancestral origins and heritage, (esp. Scots-American).

I have the most awesome husband and children in the universe, (Juliet, 11 and Merrick, almost 4).

I also draw, paint, and design "Celtic" and Medieval Illumination inspired art.

Now that I finally got this introduction out of the way, I look forward to meeting you all!

I also draw, paint, and design "Celtic" and Medieval Illumination inspired art.
By the way, I'm glad you had at least the shame to put ""s on it. :p
If there are any knots involving animal forms in there, then you may as well call it 'Germanic Art'. :p

I read a great account here:
ROMAN BRITAIN By R. G. F. B.A. COLLINGWOOD 193-something
http://www.questia.com/read/22805959?title=XV%3a%20Art

... about how Celtic La Tene style art found it impossible to 'gel' with Roman art, and slipped into the background for a few centuries, only to reemerge in the Dark Ages, where it entered a profitable symbiosis with Germanic art. Interesting...

EDIT: Actually, considering where this exchange happened, you might as well call it 'Northumbrian Art', giving credit where credit's due, i.e. to My Lot. ;)

Hmm? Well, so far, so good! Just don't start waving any Fr.,...enc...ccc..ch flags around the place or hilariously thinking France can win wars with skill and bravery.

OK?
