Does anyone have any information on this haplogroup? Apparently it is fairly rare, being associated with the Minoans of Crete, where it reaches 8% of the male population. Even though it does not have a significant presence in mainland Greece, I tested positive for it. I assume since my paternal line is largely from Mani Greece, someone migrated to the area since the two regions always had close contact.

Just seems like the basic Greco-Roman haplogroup from what I'm reading, although the Romans at the very least were a diverse bunch. (http://www.eupedia.com/europe/Haplogroup_J2_Y-DNA.shtml)

From what Ive read it seems to not be the main j2a1 subclade in Greece, and is only substantial in Crete.

Possibly - it is very old though so who knows maybe a lost Minoan. :p

Possibly of Etruscan origin (spreaded arround Europe during the Roman era, like M92).

Crete is where it reaches its highest prevalence(9 percent) within Greek borders.

Eastern European Mediterranean. Probably linked with early civilizations such as Minoans, Central Italians Phoenicans etc.
