her last name is purely Ukrainian - Гожда (Hojda / Hozhda). I personally know Hutsuls from Bukovina with this name. Ukrainians of north Romania shared many of their villages with German colonists (my village had more Germans than Ukrainians until WW1), so Germanic looks are common in the region. she is from this region, Maramureș county. where she studied, in Sighetu Marmației, there is also a Ukrainian-language high-school, but she went to a Romanian-language one, like most Ukrainians in Romania (me too). Rusyns and Hutsuls in Romania many times look like a EastSlavic-Germanic mix, unlike the Hohols in Romania (Delta Danube), which are unmixed East Slavs
