The Estonian meat market report of 2009, published by the Institute of Economic Research, says pork makes up 58 percent of the country's overall meat production.
In 2009, 45.8 tons of pork were produced, giving Estonia a 103 percent self-sufficiency in this food category.
In June, the Association of Estonian Food Industry launched a campaign promoting pork in consumer groups, pointing to a variety of health benefits, creative cooking options and seasonal uses.
