I just read that China will stop his importation of coal from north korea. It seems to be a crucial source of income for north korea.
Since years China seems to slowly break there ties with north korea and stop to support them.

For me china support is one of the few thing who avoid the government to fall.

I wonder if Kim jong-un as the potential to manage the country. Even if he is train to take the power since his birth, it's possible he doesn't have the shoulder to be at the head of the state.
He made a purge to impose his power, but does he really control the thing?

Will we see a change?

If it does happen, then South Korea will be even more stronger economically due to the cheap labour from North Korea, though they'll apparently need an estimated 500 billion $ investment in the north to bring it on par to the south, and these days, young south koreans are beginning to see themselves as very different than their brothers from the north (primarily because of economical/mentality differences, that's leading to the cultures to diverge).

I don't think south korea will be stronger with north korea.
The gap is very big and as you said the amount to be in par is just too high.
Also a thing we didn't thinka bout is the north korean population is brainwash. It won't be easy to deal with thoses kind of people who will obviously not all be able to integrate in a modern country.

Some koreans I talk with support a liberalisation and a development of north korea like in China. A slow process and not a revolution like what happen in russia at the end of CCCR.
