I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but he is "pure" German. He's from a place called Eisenhüttenstadt which is bordering Poland. I wouldn't be surprised if he's got some Polish ancestors somewhere down the line which accounts for his untypical German look

Paul Van Dyke is very much a Mediterranean looking guy. Not to say he couldn't fit in with other ethnic Germans, however, those types are few and far between over there.

Comparatively speaking, the upper part of the face is longer and more pronounced than the lower part, with the smaller, more delicate looking mandible. According to Coon, that's a distinct feature of the Mediterranean type.

I don't really think he looks Med, the "exotic" bit about him is more eastern than anything

I see nothing peculiar in his look especially in profile shot. For me he is just a big nose and eyes' Noric. Mordid's description fits him the best IMO
