Read my question carefully. GENETIC AFFINITY. Not Levantine people themselves.

When they studied Black American DNA using AncestryDNA they came up with these maps, that said where a given African component predominated in the US. If the same could be done for the Levant, which state would score the most Levantine affinity?

We have not very many Americans of Lebanese and Syrian descent, and other groups with Levantine affinity but who are not Levantine are in larger number.

New Jersey? New York?

What is your view?

My guess would be New York, New Jersey and California; the most prominent cosmopolitan, heterogeneous capitals so they are bound to be some lurking around.

Which ethnic groups in each case do you think contribute?

My guess is since actual Levantine descended Americans are few, it'd have to be wherever has the most combined (Southern) Italian Americans and Jewish Americans of Ashkenazi descent.

Then, my guess would be New York and New Jersey since the diaspora there probably has a good sizable Jewish and Southern Italian communities that you can find in the United States. Possibly a good sizable Jewish community with some Italians thrown in the mix in California if one disregards the high Hispanic diaspora.

Seeing that this maps highlight is based upon percentages; New York = 5%-15%; New Jersey: 5%-10% and California 5%-20%.

Do you think my assumption is correct?

NY, NJ, CA in that order.

Why California? I thought it is mostly Mexican these days. Though maybe there are other groups there who might have it.

Here is what it could be based on population maps:

Italian Americans, mostly southern:

And the places with the most Jews in the US:

Interesting how Italians and Jews in the US live in the same areas, for the most part. They know they're kin I guess :)
