The math problem, which you can see below, was originally posted to Twitter by Louise Bloxham, a mom in England who was shocked that the question was on her second-grader’s standard assessment test.

Easy.
X-19+17=63 now combine like terms
X-2=63 now add 2 to both sides
X=65 people on the train to begin with

I am not surprised that somebody was shocked by this. I've seen quite a lot of adults who didn't know what e.g. rule of three is.

I will admit I'm not very sharp in mathematics.

17 people got off the train,so we have two less people than in the beginning.Now there are 63 people in the train,so you add the two that were missing after the stop and you get 65 people.

1st. hypothese: Just when the train stopped:

65 passengers
Method: Logics


2nd. hypothese: Just in the beginning:

0 people (the train was total empty of peope at the beginning, save for perhaps the engine driver and some unkown number of assistants)
