'He is regarded by many to be one of England's greatest ever players
and he is one of the most decorated English footballers of all time.'
'Born in London, UK, he is the son of an Irish mother, Janice Lavender,
and a Saint Lucian father, Julian Ferdinand.'

The former England captain admits to turning to alcohol
and wanting to commit suicide
following his breakdown after the death of his wife Rebecca, 34,
the mother of the couple's three children,
who died in 2015 after a battle with breast cancer,
of which Rio is bravely making a film about.

He is campaigning to the government for greater help
for bereaved widows and is trying to support others
who are going through the greiving process
after having lost a partner who died.
I can relate to his grief, pain, suicidal feelings,
heartache and agony that he's going through,
having previously lost a boyfriend once
who I loved in the past who suddenly died young -
although I was never prepared for the mental shock,
nor able to say goodbye to him until his funeral.
Time has healed much of the pain and grief though
and new love and happiness can still be found again in life,
but it takes patience and time to grieve first.
I wish Rio and his poor children without a mother much support. https://d33ypg4xwx0n86.cloudfront.net/direct?url=http%3A%2F%2Fi.picasion.com%2Fresize80% 2Fdf93857049a4b83ed0439c503b76e7f0.png&resize=w1024
It must have been awful for him to have to tell his 3 children that their mother is never coming back again.

Poor man, I can see the emotional pain in his eyes.
