This sort of thing goes on all the time, and inside the industry most people know who has a reputation for it; normally however the general public wouldn't hear about it until years afterwards if ever. Yes, he was a bit of a cock, but you can see his process (note the way he holds the American accent for several minutes until it starts to drop back to English) and for an AD or director of photography to walk through an actor's eye line during a take that he may have already done twenty times would be unprofessional on a mexican soap opera, but on a major Hollywood film it's unacceptable.

If he had done a scene like that in the Dark Knight Batman movie, it would have made his character in the movie much better. He should be told not to act, just by yourself, a much more interesting person than the role he acted.

He is an absolute perfectionist who wants to create a certain image of himself as a great actor and artist, is in the business since he was a child.
Just think about him pumping up his body for American Psycho and other movies and going back to a physical condition of a starvating corpse in the Machinist or Rescue Dawn. Obviously a very schizothymic individual, probably even borderline to more schizoid and somewhat "eccentric", a little bit of a primadonna like many successful actors and artists are, taking themselves and their work somewhat too important, but wouldnt be as good without doing so...

The "leaking" of the audio was intentional by the producers. Either to generate free publicity for Terminator Salvation (http://terminatorsalvation.warnerbros.com/) or the execs at Warner Bros. are afraid it will be a bomb & are trying to fix the blame on someone. We'll find out this summer.
