The level for "trace region" is now 2%.
Apparently, any Middle Eastern I have has been sucked into "SE Europe" which is an Italy/Greece cluster.
My 1/64 Sub-Saharan does still appear, as trace "West African".
And I am apparently 3% Sephardi Jewish.

The 3% Sephardic could fairly be called part of Southern Italian ancestry. Part of your Portuguese side is also sucked into the Southeast Europe. Your Eastern Euro seems right but I think this is a coincidence.

My mother's are similar to mine (my West African and South American are from her) but she also has Finland as a trace region, which makes sense, and obviously less SE Euro, no Sephardi, and more British/Iberian/East Euro.

This is what I think.
As for trace regions, West Africa makes sense but why do both me and my mother have South American? It is odd because Doug McDonald noticed we had it too. But why would we?

Yes.
So if it is correct, I may have both Amerindian and African from the 1800s or so.

You have the Sephardi too, so it must be southern Italian.

I don't know your family tree but if you are partially descended from early European settlers of the Americas who intermixed with Amerindians, this could be true.

But the 8% Eastern Euro conflicts with everything I know about my autosomal DNA. I do not have significant matches from this region either.

I don't. It would have meant someone from Brazil or something ended up in Cape Verde or Portugal.

Most likely someone ended up there who was originally Caribbean or Brazilian.

Is South America a noise in your case?
I get it on every test, pretty much. So I am beginning to wonder. The African I know is real because I know which side of the family had it. Some photos of relatives in the 1800s look mixed race also and trace to Cape Verde.

In some calcs I have traces of for example less than 1% of Afican or Amerindian, but not in every so I treat it like a noise.
My new FTDNA is 97% East Euro, 3% Southeast Europe. Before I have 100% East Euro only. I have traces (<2%) of West Asian also now.
But I think when both FTDNA and Gedmatch show you some exotic admix it must be something real probably.

The West African and Amerindian are both constants for me. The African I know to be real, the Amerindian just confuses me a bit.

LOL. It would be impossible, even brazilians can hardly score some amerindian, imagine you. :D
Now imagine a brazilian being taken to the Cape Verde. I've never heard that... Amerindians or people with amerind mix taken to the Africa doesnt make sense at all to me.
I would bet that test is very non-sense for you unless you are part colonial american, what wouldn't be strange for an american with 8% british isles in his test.

These results are similar to your K36 results. I've seen a lot of different results for you, but I think that the best estimate is 70% European, 10% MENA, and 20% South Asian
You're Whiter, in my opinion, than Sicilians or Jews, and a lot of Greeks as well.

I score 1.2% South Asian on Eurogenes K15. It confuses me, especially because my mom scores none, and my father is fully NW Euro.
