The age of miracles is not over, since I actually stumbled on something interesting on Facebook:

More. (http://www.elvish.org/gwaith/juchimov.htm)

I've seen some quite bizarre Tolkien art, but these are probably the most unusual yet. Is this style called "Byzantine"?

A weird mixture of the Bayeux Tapestry, Orthodox ikonopis*, Latin Christendom's manuscript illumination and that of the Celtic Church... :ohwell:

*Though the artist has failed to comprehend the subtleties of reverse perspective. :tsk:

There is nothing specifically "Byzantine". It is a mixture of Insular Celtic and Continental Romanesque influences.
