Today marks 22 years since the rebirth of sovereignty in the Republic of Estonia.
November 16, 1988 was the day that the Supreme Council of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic declared that Estonian law was of higher authority than USSR law. It was an important step toward freedom, creating a political storm in Moscow.
