Many people think cats have personalities. In fact their owners just project the character onto their animal that they want, or to represent something missing from their lives.

So you don’t need a cat or a dog – you can project a character onto any animal. Why not a cockroach, or a leech or a tapeworm? Cockroaches are nice, easy pets to live with. I took zoology in pre-med and I know that. But I also know that there is a distinction between insects and "animals" as they are commonly known.
