Italy and New Zealand have a curious similar shape and lie more or less at same latitude. we can also compare Japan that has similar shape but lie slightly at a lower latitude

here precisely where Italy and New Zealand would fit if they were the same country in raport to each others, the cities latitude match exactly

Japan and Italy are nothing alike though.

I don't see how latitudes influence things, that's a dumb idea.

Moreso brain size influences things. Brachycephals have the biggest brains and are thus the smartest. Know who has most Brachys? East-Asians. They also have the highest IQs. So it makes sense.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was about rugby. xD Anyway, I don't see New Zealand and Italy as being especially similar. Interestingly, in levels of corruption they are more-or-less at the opposite ends of the spectrum for the Western world.

similar climate, similar sun irradiance, similar geography

in the case of italy and nz

it s same latitude althought antipodal and similar geography as narrown peninsula and isle, with a long north to south extention of more or less same kms and also narrow west eas extencion of same kms and a curious similar chain like a spine that runs from north to south: appennines for italy and nz-alps for new zealnd, then same division of a quite big isle and a longer one, sicily and southern island

and both are even quite Sismic lands with volcanoes and thermaes-spa. althought nz is more sismic

The climate is not similar at all. Italy lacks the very cool summers of New Zealand.
