They were laid down in what would have been a shallow marine environment at least 635 million years ago.
Just yesterday then?

Well, there are people (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Earth_creationism) who believe the earth is 10,000 years old.

Well so long as they don't breed :) actually on my geology course we have a fundamentalist Christian, I'm actually quite good friends with him, but he has never been able to satisfactorily explain how he is very good with Palaeontology and is studying evolution as a course but still doesn't believe in it and believes the bible is ABSOLUTE truth. So dumb for one so smart.

A few million years is really a drop in the bucket compared to the age of the earth est. at 4 billion years.

This place is a few blocks away from my mom's house:

Dinosaur Adventure Land: Where Dinosaurs and the Bible Meet (http://www.dinosauradventureland.com/)

Dinosaur Adventure Land is a theme park and science museum that gives God the glory for His creation. It has rides and fun-filled events and activities, each involving a physical challenge, a science lesson, and a biblical truth.

Learn about dinosaurs, principles of science, and even how to make a paper airplane that can fly over 300 feet! Handle our real, live creatures and take the Leap of Faith swing. Enjoyable and educational for all ages, it is specifically targeted for kids under a million years of age!

Be prepared to be challenged to think and to follow the Lord in the way God the Creator has planned for you. If you do not know your Creator, we will be overjoyed to introduce you to Him.

Our funny and experienced guides will lead your family or group on the tour, declaring the works of the Lord and the words of the Lord.

DAL is not an amusement park, for “amuse” means “to not think,” and we want people to think. Rather, it is an amazement park. Come and stand amazed at the truths of the Creator and Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

There's not a big enough :rolleyes2: for this.

Indeed 4.6 I think is the latest guess and we will never be able to find evidence that is any older than the oldest surviving sedimentary rocks, which are at the moment found in Greenland and are 3.8 billion years old but hey what's 0.8billion years between friends?
