Northern '' greeks'' of the Epir rregion are a mix of native orthodox albanians, (many of whom assimilated), vlachs from pindus mountains and some asian anatolians.

Normally them and some few pure Arvanites from Attika and Peloponnese + Beotia regions are the cloests people to Albanians nowdays from modern greece.

' Macedonians'' of greece are a mix of bulgarians, vlachs and anatolians, and many jews used to live there also.

They have never striked me as more slavic looking, in fact some of them look much more exotic than the neo greeks of Epir region for example.

Most of neo greeks are east med, dinaric, alipinid, alpine med, lots of them are close to armenoid also, with big nose, big eyebrows and exotic eyes etc.

Thessaly was the center of Vlachs in the balkan region.

It was called the Great Vllahia once upon a time.

Maybe vlachs from central balkans brought that element in 1200s.

Yes, that's what i am talking about. As for thessaly, west thessaly is like Epirus, east thessaly is the link between Northern Greece and South-central Greece, with more North-western admixture, for that reason ploting near regions like Tuscany.
