Two Men Sought in Connection with Fatal Fire

http://yle.fi/ecepic/archive/00365/Tampere_tulipalo_pa_365968b.jpg

Police say that forensic evidence indicates that a fire in Tampere that took three lives early Monday was intentionally set. The authorities are now searching for two men thought to be involved.

Police are now investigating the fire as a case of aggravated arson, three cases of first degree manslaughter and four cases of battery.

The blaze, which started in a ground-floor kebab-pizzeria, caused the deaths of three and the hospitalization of another four people.

Three of the four who were hospitalized were released on Monday afternoon. One was still in intensive care as of Monday evening.

Two men sought

The police are asking the public for any eyewitness reports of people or vehicles seen near the site of the blaze just before or after the fire broke out.

Police already have a report of two figure dressed in dark clothing seen running from the area of the fire who are possibly connected with the crime.

There are basically two ways this can play out. For the multikulti press & establishment, one option is a jackpot, the other a nightmare.

Of course the one they are hoping and praying for is that the perpetrators will turn out to be racist skinheads. If that turns out to be the case, we will NEVER hear the end of it. Especially now with less than 6 months to go till the elections and the True Finns breaking records in popularity.

The other possibility is that the culprits are the owners of a competing kebab joint. There are plenty precedents for similar non-voluntary negoriations of market shares among kebab entrepeneurs.

One Man Detained in Connection with Fatal Fire

Police in Tampere have detained one man thought to be involved in Monday morning's fatal fire in the city centre. Forensic evidence indicates that the fire, which took three lives, was intentionally set.

They announced on Tuesday morning they had taken one man into custody, but declined to say whether he was one of two seen leaving the scene.

Police are investigating the fire as a case of aggravated arson, three cases of first degree manslaughter and four cases of battery.

The blaze, which started in the foreign-owned Juliet kebab-pizzeria on the ground floor, caused the deaths of three and the hospitalization of another four people. Police say there is no evidence indicating that it was a crime specifically aimed against immigrants, but said that the theory could not be ruled out.

Three of the four who were hospitalized were released on Monday afternoon. One elderly woman was still in intensive care on Tuesday morning, but her condition had stabilised.

The dead were two men and one woman, all in their late 20s. They were found in stairwells on the first floor and between the 4th and 5th floors.

Police are asking the public for any eyewitness reports of people or vehicles seen near the site of the blaze just before or after the fire broke out aruond 5.26 a.m.. They have an eyewitness report of two figures dressed in dark clothing seen running from the area toward the Kyttälä neighbourhood just after the fire began.

Eldis pretty much nailed it. Even if it turns out to be the Kebab-dudes, the progressive media has ample time to speculate over the possible racist motives behind the crime and to drill the idea into the heads of their readership. If the Ähläms are found guilty, the media will simply be silent about it, and everyone will remember "the racist arson attack". I was amazed to find that Minitrue YLE actually published an English version of this:

Arson Being Confirmed - One Arrested

http://yle.fi/ecepic/archive/00365/23_11_Tampere_tulip_365996b.jpg

Police in Tampere formally placed one man under arrest on Tuesday in connection with a fire Monday morning that killed three and injured four people. Police have also gathered further evidence supporting their belief that the fire was a case of arson

The man detained by police Monday evening and formally arrested Tuesday afternoon. Police were still seeking two individuals who eyewitnesses say they saw running away from the site of the blaze soon after the fire broke out.

The head of the investigation, Hannu Kallioniemi, says that both eyewitness reports and forensic evidence point to arson.

"As the investigation has proceeded, the possibility of this being a crime has received further confirmation," Kallioniemi told YLE

The kebab-pizzeria where the fire originated was foreign-owned. While not completely discounting rumours that the explosive fire was set as a racial hate crime, Hannu Kallioniemi said Tuesday that there were no indications that this was the case.

"The investigation has not lent credence to the existence of threats, hatred, or the use of explosives. But, these cannot be yet ruled out and this aspect continues to be examined," stated Kallioniemi.

Two men and one woman, all just under the age of 30, died in the blaze. One elderly woman was still in intensive care on Tuesday evening, although the hospital reported that her condition had improved and she had regained consciousness.

If wonder if they're still hoping against hope, or did they decide to display some residual journalistic integrity?

Four Suspects in Tampere Fire Detained

Police tight-lipped about Tampere fire investigation

Nearby restaurateurs shocked at blaze

Police have been giving out only scant information about the ongoing investigation into a deadly fire that began at a kebab and pizza restaurant in the centre of Tampere in on Monday morning.

Three people died in a stairwell above the ground-floor restaurant. The fire spread rapidly, and police believe that it was deliberately set.

According to MTV3 news, one of the theories being investigated by police is that the fire involved a conflict between ethnic groups.

Police showed the owners of the kebab restaurant next door to the one that was torched a picture apparently taken by a surveillance camera of a person, dressed in dark clothing, who was running away from the area at about the time that the fire broke out.

“The police asked us what we know, but we did not have much that we could say”, says one of the owners, Ali Riza Uçar.

On Tuesday, police were convinced that two men seen running away from the scene of the fire had something to do with the blaze.

A newspaper deliverer who was in the building before the fire broke out told police that there had been a strong smell of petrol.

A man detained by police on Monday was placed under arrest on Tuesday. Police have interrogated the man, but are not giving any details of the questioning, or of the man’s nationality.

Many had seen two figures running from the area in the early hours, but police are not saying if the man they have arrested was one of them.

Police have until Thursday to either have the suspect remanded, or to release him.

“We are going one day at a time in the investigation”, says detective chief inspector Hannu Kallioniemi.

The police say that for now there are no indications of a racist motive.

Kallioniemi said that the surveillance camera pictures have been useful, and that they might be made public soon.

Later on Tuesday Uçar was sitting at the table of a café opposite his kebab-pizzeria, which had been badly damaged by the fire that started in the restaurant next to his, and by water used to put the fire out.

Uçar said that everything seemed normal when he left his restaurant at five in the morning. The fire broke out half an hour later.

“We lost much, but we are not worried about that. We are sad that three young people died in the fire. We lost our business for a short time, but those people will not come back”, Uçar says.

He also says that he had good relations with the restaurant next door, which was completely gutted, although the Turkish-born Uçar does not share a language with the other restaurant's Iraqi owners.

Another owner of a pizzeria in the area is Abdul Wali Rahim, who left his restaurant on Monday morning less than half an hour before the fire broke out.

Wali Rahim does not understand how someone could have deliberately set the fire.

Many other kebab entrepreneurs are also shocked, and some are fearful. Fatih Baker Helmi, who owns a restaurant on the other end of Hämeenkatu, fears a surge of racism if foreigners prove to have been responsible for the fire.

“No matter who did it, people should not be labelled. There are crazy people like that in all countries and cultures”, says Harnarain Singh Brar, who has run a restaurant on nearby Kirkkokatu for many years.

Popinder Singh, said while slicing kebab that he did not see anything suspicious when he drove past the scene of the fire less than an hour before it broke out.

Three completely innocent and uninvolved bystanders have died.

Yet Pravda worries about racism. I also predict that "racism" will increase when (not if, when) this turns out to be an attempt at insurance fraud or an ethnic conflict. I however don't think it's a particularly bad thing, not the way things currently stand.

Also, notice the double-plus-good newspeak:

"Conflict between ethnic groups" (=between non-Finns) vs. "racially-motivated" or "hate-crime" (=Finns vs. non-Finns).

Owner arrested for Tampere pizzeria arson

Police confirmed on Thursday that a man arrested in connection with the fire which gutted a pizzeria in the centre of Tampere on Monday morning is the owner of the restaurant. The fire caused serious damage to the building, as well as three deaths.

The 22-year-old owner is expected to be remanded in custody at Pirkanmaa District Court on Friday morning.

Also arrested was a relative of the owner. The men are from Iraq.

The motive for the act has not come out. Yesterday evening, police did not want to comment on whether or not the establishment had been insured.

On Wednesday evening, police detained another man, who was suspected of involvement in the fire, bringing the total number of people who have been detained in the case to four. One of the four, who was detained in the Helsinki region, was released on Wednesday.

Police are not giving out information on what has come out in the interrogations of those who have been held in the case.

The progressives must be terribly disappointed as they are once again denied their very own holocaust. A couple of social democrats were a little overtly eager and decided to go on an all-out offensive against "racism and xenophobia" in defence of immigrants and multicultural society. Boy, they must be feeling stupid (or so one would hope). :dunno:

There was a pretty good commentary in one of the evening tabloids, by Ulla Appelsin, editor of Ilta-Sanomat. I'll translate it for our English audience.

A People That Can't Be Trusted?

The flames of the large fire in Tampere had barely been extuinguished, when members of parliament Päivi Lipponen (SD) and Kimmo Kiljunen (SD) [I've met the latter in person, a true hypocrite and emotional multiculturalist. -Riip.] declared it a racist hate crime.

To level such accusations without any facts whatsoever to base them on is strange enough for members of parliament.

However, there is an issue far more serious at stake here: the fact that these members of parliament do not trust their own people.

Both Lipponen and Kiljunen see the Finns as so fundamentally racist, aggressive and criminal, that when a crime occurs involving immigrants, even if indirectly, the blame falls automatically on the angry native Finns.

Contrary to what Lipponen and Kiljunen believe, there is no proof of a racist motive for the fire in Tampere whatsoever.

It appears the Finns are not as evil as these two MPs believe. This is good.

But how is it, that the country is lead by people, who's actions are characterized by a deep-seated suspicion towards the behaviour and attitudes of the people?
