Which sports team(s) do you follow? Are you an "armchair" fan, or are you an active supporter?

I'm a (Glasgow) Rangers fan first and foremost, and I also follow Liverpool in England.

As for internationals, I support the England national team, but have also supported other nations so long as there is no conflict of interest (Scotland, Germany, and the Netherlands to be specific).

I'm a member of a local Rangers supporters club, and watch as many games as possible. The latter is true for Liverpool as well. Living in Canada, I've only seen them play in person a handful of times. Unfortunately, the last time I was even able to attend an EPL match was at Aston Villa in the summer of 2007.

I generally don't watch or play any sports aside from football, with the exception of rugby union.

I used to be a HUGE fan of Man Utd, and internationally a HUGE follower of England, but the last ten years has seen the sport nosedive in my eyes.

Too much money, far too much reliance upon foreign players, foreign "home-grown" youth players, too much exposure and far too many non-Englishmen in the international teams. Not to mention the last two "decent" England managers were Swedish and Italian.

I of course still look out for the scores, and hope that both the teams do well, but as for the same enthusiasm; not a chance. Lost forever, I'm afraid.

As a kid I was a fan of the Québec Nordiques until they were sent down to Colorado.

Since I was a huge Sundin fan I followed him to the Leafs and was a huge Leafs fan until a few years ago when I gave up on the horrible coaches and GMs the Leafs have forever been plagued with. To this day I still hate Pat Quinn for what he did to the Leafs, back in '99 when they still had Berezin, Sylvain Côté, Steve Sullivan, Daniil Markov, Yuskevich and so on. They had a pretty epic lineup, but if they'd actually been allowed to develop those players Toronto might have had a chance to win the cup in the next years. But no, the trend for the last nine or so years has been to trade worthwhile young players in order to obtain washed up players that are passed their glory days. They did it with Wendel Clark, they did it with Eric Lindros (who without John Leclair would have been nothing anyways), and now they've taken back Joseph. Its like the Leafs are the town dump of the hockey world where all the other teams send their once spectacular players to live out their days until retirement.

So in despair I turned to Ottawa who, along with the Habs, had been one of my favourite teams anyways, but I think I brought the Sens bad luck in that decision...Maybe I should just go for an American team and transfer my badluck to the damned yanks :p

Growing up, I was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns, an NFL team from my state. This was the only NFL team to have a fan following anywhere remotely resembling that of European soccer clubs, there was a 'blue collar' section of the stands called the 'Dawg Pound' which would pelt opposing teams with milkbones ('dawg bones'), snowballs, and batteries.

The 'Dawg Pound' greets the cross-state rival team, the Cincinnati Bengals. Funny thing, a lot of Browns fans switched to Bengals fans the year the Bengals went to the Super Bowl (national championship), and then the Bengals sucked forever afterwards.

A construction worker, John 'Big Dawg' Thompson, somewhat of a leader of this group of fans:

Western Warriors and the National team in the Cricket. Unfortunately don't get to see the Cricket as much these days. Great way to spend a afternoon.

Also, West Coast Eagles in the AFL.

I'm now an armchair supporter of Helsinki IFK. I used to go their games every now and then. When I inevitably become a millionaire one day, one of the first things I'll do is get a life-long season ticket.

Bizarrely enough, many people in this country follow the English Premier league. My half-Manc wife is a Man United supporter, so I guess [Pulp Fiction mode]that pretty much makes me a Man United supporter[/Pulp Fiction mode].

You finally saw the light.:thumb001: Sometimes it is hard to be completely human after being a Laff's fan but there is hope. There is medication that can be taken to release from the brain-washing.:D I'm not sure if the smell ever goes away though. I'm surrounded by Laff's fans at work and I fell dirty.

You didn't bring the Sens bad luck. Management just made bad coaching decisions. Not mathematically out of the playoffs...grasping at straws.

Chin-up...There's always next year.

Cheers

I'm a (Glasgow) Rangers fan first and foremost, and I also follow Liverpool in England.

When I was in Scotland back in late August/early September, there was a big Rangers/Celtic match. My good friend from Glasgow is on the Rangers side of things so I rooted for them as we listened on the radio. They won. :thumb001:

Sorry to hear that. ;)

In motorsports I root for the Ford teams, since that's my favorite kind of car (Volkswagen is a close second), so it's Roush Racing and Matt Kenseth in NASCAR and the BP Ford team in WRC.

In soccer I root for Rapid Wien, Lazio and Glasgow Celtic.

I also happen to love MMA. They don't fight as teams, but my favorite individual fighters are Clay Guida, Marcus Davis and John Fitch.

I was at that game! August 31st to be precise, and we won it 4-2. :D The last Rangers/Celtic match I went to back in 2005 we also won, that time by 3-1. I must be good luck or something. :thumb001:

LOL, what a small world. We were driving across the Cairngorms (listening to the BBC--we had to keep switching frequencies because of terrain/reception) on the way to the little village in Perthshire where my father's father's father's father's father's father's father came from.

I was thinking how much fun one of those matches would be to see in person. I loved the crowd's chanting in the background. :)

Oh, I forgot all about motor sports -- the only one of which I follow with any regularity is F1.

And I'll readily admit that I'm shamelessly biased towards any team with Finnish drivers. McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen is my favourite, but it's difficult for me to support that team, because their lead driver is ... well, you know.

On the other hand, Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen is supposed to improve his performance this season, but in private he is El Assholio Maximo del Mundo, so I just don't know.

I support Manchester City cause it was my mum's team and I really like the colour though there's a player for the Wolves who is totally dreamy <3 I guess internationally, I support England and whoever's playing against Italy. :D

Pittsburgh Steelers just won their historic 6th Super Bowl.

Like Suut, I am a big fan of the WEC and the UFC of mixed martial arts. If it is on TV, I have to watch it. My favorite fighters at this point are Uriah Faber and Brock Lezner.
